Life could be worse for Krisztián, a mid-twenties slacker who finally lands a cushy job that won’t require lots of heavy lifting - or so he thinks! As the newly appointed night watchman at the morgue soon discovers, the recently deceased are a busy bunch after dark. Spending their nightly hours fretting over unresolved issues, they are stuck in limbo with only 29 days to sort their excess baggage before the Mortician, a fire-breathing demon, will harvest their souls. Having finally found his purpose, Krisztián steps up as their soul-saving go-between, but when Ági - a recent crush turned girl of his dreams - shows up dead at his doorstep, he finds himself torn between helping her move on or trying to bring her back to the world of the living.

With impressive production design that transports us to a believable fantasy world steeped in supernatural lore and witchcraft, director Isti Madarász stages an increasingly epic battle for love in HALFWAY HOME, a darkly whimsical fairy tale that might win Tim Burton’s approval. Fans of cult TV series PUSHING DAISIES would also do well to try out this quirky afterlife comedy.
